Class 4

Welcome you to Class 4.

Mrs Sharp is our teacher and Mrs Fry and Mrs Blakeley are our teaching.

Class 4 is used by the Year 5 and 6 children.

As for Year 6 this will be their final year in primary school, we will be preparing the children for their transition to High School.

We will be encouraging them to be more independent and organised with regard to handing in homework, remembering to bring in PE kit, etc.

Year 6's are also expected to take on roles within school; these include assembly monitors, lunchtime table duties and being in charge of playground equipment.

Over the course of the year we hope to study some exciting and varied topics and encourage the children to bring in relevant books and artefacts from home to support these.

Autumn 2018 Class 4

Welcome to Class 4. We are in our brand new classroom, so please feel free to come and have a look. This term, once we have returned from an action- packed time in Llanrug, the timetable will be as busy and exciting as usual!

Our topic this term will be World War 1. We will be looking at the geographical location of the countries involved, the alliances between these countries and the reasons why the war started. The children will gain an insight into the lives of people who were actively involved in fighting the war, as well as the impact that the war had on the people at home in Britain.

In literacy we will be looking at stories and poems set at the time on the First World War and writing our own short stories, reports and explanations In Maths we will look at: place value of numbers with up to 7 digits; addition and subtraction including decimals; rounding numbers; short multiplication and division, as well as measurement including perimeter, area and volume.

Grammar and Handwriting will be taught independently throughout the term.

Our science topics this term will be:

Living things and their habitats. This will involve the children classifying both animals and plants according to their characteristics.

The Human body. Including the workings of the circulatory system and how to keep our bodies healthy.

Homework will be given out on a Thursday to be returned the following Wednesday.
