Our last full school inspection was in February 2013 when we were judged to be a good school and outstanding for behaviour and safety.

In December 2015, we received a short one day inspection to check we were still continuing to provide a good quality of education.

We were delighted with the report which stated: 'The leadership team has maintained the good quality of education in the school since the last inspection'.

Here are some of the highlights of the report:

  • Pupils describe school as 'amazing' and parents say 'my children love school'.
  • Pupils' behaviour and safety were judged to be outstanding at the previous inspection. These areas continue to be strengths in the school.
  • Pupils make excellent gains in their personal development and well-being and become well-rounded individuals who work hard and feel safe at school.
  • Parent and pupil views are extremely positive with 100% of parents say that they would recommend the school to others.
  • Teaching has remained good and is characterised by the exciting lesson teachers plan. This results in high levels of pupil enjoyment and engagement.
  • Leaders have been successful in maintaining the exemplary behaviour and attitudes noted at the previous inspection.
  • Assessment information shows that by the time pupil leave school at the end of Year 6, they have made good progress and on occasion outstanding progress, especially in mathematics.
  • The Headteacher leads by example with dedication, care and commitment.
  • Subject leaders make a significant contribution to improvements identified.
  • Children in the early years settle quickly and make good progress.
  • The before-school club provides a valuable resource for working parents and fosters good relationships between the older and younger pupils who attend.

SIAMS Inspection

Our SIAMS (Statutory Inspection of Anglican and Methodist Schools) inspection took place in March 2017 and we were delighted with the result which graded the school as outstanding.

Some of the strengths of the school which were noted in the report included:

  • The nine core values make a significant contribution to the exemplary behaviour and creation of an environment, in which children are keen to learn and have positive attitudes towards their work.
  • Callow End Church of England Primary School is a church school that encourages all children to do their best and is developing a generation of responsible, well behaved and loving citizens.
  • The governors and Headteacher ‘have a very good understanding of the school’s strengths and how it can continue to grow and therefore have an excellent capacity to continue to develop as a church school.’
