Holly class explored units of measurement in maths this week and we began looking at The Great Fire of London in topic.

Friday afternoon is peer reading afternoon with Y1 and Y2 reading with Y5 and Y6. The children read and listened beautifully to each other in a calm and nurturing environment.

Holly Class

Welcome back to the Autumn term in Holly Class. The children have all settled in really well and have been spending time exploring their new surroundings and getting to know each other.
This term our topic will be, ‘The Great Fire of London’ and we will be enjoying a visit from The History Man to further enhance our learning.

Children will all need a Callow End blue book bag and this will need to be in school everyday with their reading book and reading record. Books will be changed on Mondays and Thursdays. Children are regularly assessed and books are chosen according to the phonics phase we are working on in class. All children will be listened to in school several times a week but it is really important that they read at home every night to an adult and that this is recorded in their reading records. Please also read the inside cover of the phonics books as they contain sounds and words the children need to know for their reading. It is best to do this before you read the book each time. We thank you in advance for your cooperation.

We will be heading into Woodland school on Mondays so please send children into school in Woodland school clothes with a named bag containing their wellies.

PE will be on Thursday so please send children in wearing their PE kits.

Spellings will be sent home on a Monday and children will be tested the following Monday. Results will be sent home in their book bags on Monday evening. Year 2’s will also have maths homework sent home on Monday each week to be completed and brought back the next Monday.

Please pop over at pick up time to say hello and ask any questions you may have or email me on [email protected]

Keep checking this class page as I will be adding photos of our learning during the year and we enjoy keeping you informed.

We really look forward to meeting you all and teaching your children this year.

Many thanks

Miss Curtis and Mrs Stephens.
