New Reception September 2020

Dear Families,

As September gets closer and closer, we are all probably starting to feel lots of different emotions - excitement and anxiety maybe being two of them?  I just wanted to hopefully put your minds as ease a little and try to reassure you in case you are feeling a little nervous about your child starting school next week.  We have been busy during the holidays rearranging the classroom to make it as 'Covid-safe' as possible, whilst still maintaining the fundamental ethos of an Early Years environment.  Next Tuesday, I will post a short video online to show you just what this looks like, as well as a little reminder as to which way your child will need to enter school in the mornings and where they will put their things etc.

I fully appreciate that this can be a daunting time for you and your child, even under 'normal' circumstances.  However, please rest assured that Mrs Peck and I will be putting the safety and emotional well-being of your child at the forefront of everything we do.  As well as being experienced early years practitioners, we are both parents ourselves and understand the importance of supporting and nurturing all children to help them feel happy, safe and secure.

In the meantime, if you have any questions or concerns, please email me on [email protected]

Have a safe and restful weekend and I will be in touch again on Tuesday via this class page.

Bye for now!

Mrs Wilford ~ Class 1 Teacher & EYFS Lead
Mrs Peck ~ Class 1 Teaching Assistant

Hello and a very warm welcome to new and existing parents and carers who have children starting in our Reception class in September.  For those of you who don't already know me, my name is Mrs Wilford and I will be your child's teacher in Class 1 in September, along with the excellent support of Mrs Peck who is Class 1's teaching assistant.  Whether this is all new to you or you have older children and have experienced this before, it can still be a daunting process, especially as we are  in such uncertain times at the moment.

Due to Covid 19, we are unfortunately unable to offer the usual home visits, information evening and transition sessions we usually do this side of the summer holidays.  The idea of this dedicated web page to new Reception children of 2020,  is to give you lots of information, answer any questions you may have any hopefully put your mind at ease.

If you have any queries at all, or would like to arrange a chat over the phone, please telephone the school on 01905 830337 or email me on [email protected]

Story time....

Each week on a Monday and Tuesday, I will be visiting the children in our preschool during the morning to share a story, play games and talk to the children about starting school in September, answering any questions they may have.

This morning, we shared a lovely story together, 'Bear Snores On...' and played a game of 'sleeping bunnies'. The children joined in well with the story and loved playing the game afterwards.  I am looking forward to our next story tomorrow.

***To help give me a little background information about your child, it would be great if all parents/carers could please download and complete the 'Starting School Questionnaire' and return to me via email on [email protected] Thank you! ***
