Possible reopening of school
You will probably be aware that the Prime Minister, Boris Johnson, has announced that schools will begin partial reopening from 1st June, beginning with pupils from Reception, Year 1 and Year 6. I am sure you will have many questions for us about how this provision will be organised, including how we will manage pupils' social distancing within school, arrangements for drop off and pick up, staffing etc.
All schools are currently awaiting the release of official government information and guidance. This will allow us to answer your queries, plan our provision appropriately and, most importantly, maintain pupil well-being and safety. Until we receive this new information, our school will continue with the current provision - remaining closed to all pupils except the children of keyworkers and vulnerable children.
I also wanted to reassure you on a number of other points:
1. Firstly, the safety of all our pupils is of the utmost importance to us and all decisions will be taken in the best interests of all our children and families.
2. Our school remains committed to enabling those workers, critical to the response to coronavirus, to attend their workplace over the coming weeks and months – and this will continue even when we open our doors to additional year groups.
3. We will listen carefully to the guidance we receive from the Local Authority, the Diocesan Education Team and the Department for Education. The DfE has yet to issue its detailed guidance - we expect it in the next few days.
4. We will keep you informed and provide you with additional information in the comings days and weeks about what this means for our school.
This has been a difficult time for us all and I want to thank all our parents for their support and patience.
