Floppy's Phonics

We are using the Floppy Phonics scheme for our phonics sessions in preschool. There are 12 books in this series and we will be using two books every half term.

Each book we use will have accompanying activities for the children to take part in and enjoy as well as incorporating environmental, instrumental & voice sounds, body percussion, rhythm & rhyme, alliteration, segmenting & oral blending.

The above photo shows the main characters in the books, The Robinson family.  You may want to talk about them with your child. Here are a few discussion ideas:
What can they say about each of the characters, what are they wearing, can they see any patterns on the clothing, who is young/older, how many grown-ups are there, how many children, what is the dog called, how many people are in your family, is the Robinson family similar/different to yours?

At The Carnival is the Floppy Phonics book we have been covering over the last few weeks. We have looked at and discussed what a carnival is, things we may see/hear and how we can make those noises too. We had lots of fun pretending that we were part of the carnival by dancing, playing different instruments, using our voices and dancing in lots of different ways.

Dear Families,

We hope you are all well and staying safe.  As you are already aware following our letter last week, the government have stated that preschool and nursery settings must stay open during the lockdown period.  Families have now made a decision on what to do; with some choosing to send their child into preschool and some choosing for them to stay at home. Whatever your decision, please know that we support you either way.

As Miss Moore and Mrs Eggerton will now be resuming their usual hours in preschool, they will no longer be able to continue to set home learning as they did last week.  We will still be checking in with you regularly via Tapestry and uploading a new daily story read by a member of the team.  There are lots of home learning suggestions attached (below) for you to try at your leisure.  It would also be great for families to share any other fun home learning ideas they have too via Tapestry.

The most important things for all of our families is that they stay safe, happy and look after themselves and each other.

If you have any queries or concerns, please do not hesitate to get in touch - we are here for you.

Thank you for your continued support,

Mrs Wilford, Miss Moore, Mrs Eggerton & Mrs Peck

The Tapestry website is now back up and running!  Therefore, please continue to refer there for Home Learning, messages and stories.  Staff can be contacted via Tapestry, or by emailing us using the details below.

Thank you once again for your continued support in these difficult times.

Hello Everybody,

It was so lovely to see so many of you yesterday and hear all of your exciting Christmas news. Unfortunately we find ourselves having to revert back to home learning. Please find our preschool activities for this week below for you to complete if you are able to do so.

Tapestry is down at the moment but we will be using that as our main form of communication.  Please can we ask on the days your child would usually attend preschool that you log onto Tapestry and like or comment on that mornings post so that we can keep an informal register. Thank you very much for your support with this.

We hope that you and your families stay safe and well over these uncertain times and we hope to see you all back in school as soon as we are able.

Hi Everyone,

Unfortunately the Tapestry website is down at the moment. As soon as it is up and running, we will upload Home Learning onto Tapestry. For now, please see below for more information at this stage. Thank you for your support.

We have come to the end of our first half term, and what a wonderful one it has been. The children have all made massive progress, they have settled in well, are learning our daily routines, formed lovely friendships, and have thoroughly enjoyed our 'All About Me' topic.

The children have shown fantastic knowledge about keeping our minds and bodies healthy, as well as developing an understanding of ourselves and feelings and have really enjoyed taking part in daily yoga.  We have finished off our topic learning about different types of families, and our family tree.

The children have been brilliant at putting coats and shoes on independently, this helps the grown-ups enormously and we are very proud of you all and your achievements so far. keep it up and keep practicing!

Enjoy a restful break and we will see you on Monday 2nd November for another exciting, fun filled half term.

Take care

Mrs Eggerton & Miss Moore

Hello Preschool!  We hope you are all doing ok at home and making some fun memories together.

The chicks have now moved to their 'forever home', which is on a farm in Malvern.  Farmer Pete says they have settled in well and are happily cheeping and getting bigger by the day.  Please have  a look on Class 1's page for more information and pictures.

As usual, please remember to check out the Home Learning activities posted on Tapestry.  We love looking at the pictures and comments you post too - please keep them coming!

If you have any queries, please do not hesitate to contact a member of the team on the emails below:

Special Delivery!

We had a very special delivery in school today!  We are looking after some very special eggs in school for the next couple of weeks.  The eggs have to stay warm, so they are being kept inside a special box called an incubator.  What do you think might happen to the eggs....?  Watch this space to find out!

Welcome back Preschool!  We hope you have had a really lovely Easter and haven't eaten too much chocolate!!!

It has been lovely seeing pictures of lots of you on Tapestry and the super learning you have been doing at home - it all looks so much fun!  Please keep the pictures coming as Pip the bear loves seeing them as well and you might even give him some ideas for what he can do at home too.

Please also look on Tapestry for our Home Learning Challenges to try at home.  These are posted in the new 'Memo' section on Tapestry and you should receive a notification each time a new memo is posted.  Mrs Eggerton has posted some great ideas this week which are linked to our new topic, 'Bugs'.

You are also able to send messages to Early Years staff via Tapestry and they can respond with any queries or comments you may have about your child's learning.  Alternatively, you can email Mrs Wilford on [email protected]

We appreciate these are very strange and difficult times indeed but you are all doing such a great job in trying to maintain some fun and normality for your children which is so important and will be making a huge difference.  Stay safe and positive everyone.

The first week of the school holiday is almost over but, the best is yet to come! We hope you all have a lovely Easter weekend. Stay home, stay safe,  look out for the Easter bunny 🐰, try not to eat too much chocolate and enjoy the sunshine ☀️
Thank you for all of the tapestry posts it’s been great to see what you’ve all been learning. Keep up the good work.
Happy Easter 🐣 🐣
From Miss Moore & Mrs Eggerton

Pip, Mrs Eggerton and Mrs Wilford went into school, it was a very busy and productive day. We dug, pulled out lots of weeds and watered all the soil because it was so dry. Pip and some children helped with planting flowers, strawberry plants and runner beans (in pots).

We now have two flower beds, a herb garden, vegetable patch, digging pit and an area prepared for the runner bean seeds when they are big enough to plant out. We even have seed potatoes planted too!

I think you’ll agree the garden area is really starting to take shape.

Early Years Garden transformation

Pip has come out of hibernation and has been helping Mrs Eggerton at home. Here are a few photos of what he’s been up to!

Welcome to your very own class page Preschool!

This is a great way to communicate with families and keep you up to date with what is happening in our wonderful Preschool.

We hope all of our families are well and keeping safe at home.  These are very strange and difficult times for all right now and it can be hard to find the right words to explain to our children what is happening.  Therefore, we have attached a lovely poem that helps to explain the impact Coronavirus is having on the world right now in a child-friendly way.
Please also check out the Home Learning Challenges set on Tapestry.  It would be really great if you could please post pictures/videos onto your child's Tapestry account of them completing the home learning challenges and/or any other learning fun they are having at home.
